  9. This file, LICENSE.TXT., contains the ARIS EDIT LITE license agreement 
  10. and gives you information on registering ARIS EDIT LITE.  The file is 4
  11. pages long. The last page is a registration form which you can fill out 
  12. and mail in to register ARIS EDIT LITE.

  14. Registration Information
  15.  
  16. ARIS EDIT LITE is a copyrighted program protected by both U.S. and 
  17. international copyright law.  You are authorized to use it without charge 
  18. for a limited period of time under the terms of the ARIS EDIT LITE license 
  19. agreement.  After this time, you must register and pay for ARIS EDIT LITE 
  20. if you wish to continue using it. This method of distribution is known as 
  21. shareware.  It allows you to determine whether ARIS EDIT LITE meets your 
  22. needs before you pay for it.

  24. Upon registration you will recieve:
  25.  
  26.         o  The latest version of ARIS EDIT LITE, registered to you.
  27.            Either via CompuServe mail or, for an additional charge,
  28.            via ground mail
  29.  
  30.         o  Technical support via phone and regular or electronic mail
  31.

  33. ARIS EDIT LITE License Agreement
  34.  
  35. (1)  The ARIS EDIT LITE program and all other programs and documentation 
  36. distributed or shipped with it are copyrighted works protected by U.S. and 
  37. international copyright law.  In the rest of this document, this collection 
  38. of programs is referred to simply as "ARIS EDIT LITE".  You are granted a 
  39. license to use your copy of ARIS EDIT LITE only under the terms and 
  40. conditions specified in this license agreement.

  46. (2)  ARIS EDIT LITE is a shareware software package.  It is not free, 
  47. and it is not in the public domain.  It is distributed as shareware, 
  48. which means that before you pay for the package, you may try it and see 
  49. if you want to continue using it.  You may use ARIS EDIT LITE free for 
  50. a trial period of up to 31 days.  If you wish to continue using ARIS 
  51. EDIT LITE after that period, you must pay a registration fee.  If you 
  52. choose not to pay the registration fee, you must stop using ARIS EDIT 
  53. LITE, though you are still free to keep copies and pass them along to
  54. others.

  56. (3)  You may use your copy of ARIS EDIT LITE on a single computer. You 
  57. may also install it on a computer attached to a network, or remove it 
  58. from one computer and install it on a different one, provided there is 
  59. no possibility that a single copy of ARIS EDIT LITE will be used on more 
  60. than one computer at a time.
  61. Network, site, and corporate licenses are available from ARIS.
  62.  
  63. (4)  You may copy ARIS EDIT LITE for backup purposes, and you may give 
  64. copies of the unregistered version to other individuals, which they may 
  65. also use and copy under the terms of this agreement.  If you copy the 
  66. unregistered version of ARIS EDIT LITE for others, you must include all 
  67. of the files distributed with it.

  69. (5)  You may NOT give, sell, or otherwise transfer copies of the 
  70. registered version of ARIS EDIT LITE to any other person for any reason.  
  71. However, you may transfer ownership of your registered copy to another 
  72. person, provided that when you do so, you stop using ARIS EDIT LITE, 
  73. remove it from your computer, and notify ARIS of the new owner.

  75. (6)  You may NOT distribute ARIS EDIT LITE other than through individual 
  76. copies of the shareware archive passed to friends and associates for 
  77. their individual use and distribution by electronic means where no profit 
  78. is intended specific to ARIS EDIT LITE. Specifically, you may not place 
  79. any part of the REGISTERED ARIS EDIT LITE package in any user group or 
  80. commercial library without written permission from ARIS, and you may not 
  81. distribute for a fee, or in any way sell copies of ARIS EDIT LITE or any 
  82. part of the ARIS EDIT LITE package.
  83.  
  84. (7)  ARIS EDIT LITE is a powerful editor.  Although we have attempted to 
  85. build in reasonable safeguards, if you do not use ARIS EDIT LITE properly 
  86. you may destroy files or cause other damage to your computer software and 
  87. data.  You assume full responsibility for the selection and use of ARIS 
  88. EDIT LITE to achieve your intended results; in no event shall ARIS be 
  89. responsible for any damages whatsoever due to errors in usage or your 
  90. failure to read, understand, or follow instructions in the documentation. 
  91. ARIS limits its warranty to replacement of a defective program diskette or 
  92. manual.
  93.  
  94. (8)  Like all useful computer software, ARIS EDIT LITE may contain errors 
  95. in programs or documentation.  If you find such an error or are otherwise
  96. dissatisfied with a registered copy of ARIS EDIT LITE, you may return the 
  97. entire package at any time up to 30 days after purchase for a full refund 
  98. of your original registration fee; such a refund shall be your sole remedy 
  99. for any program error(s).  ARIS shall not be liable for any other costs
  100. incurred by you due to such errors.
  101.  
  102. (9)  If you do not agree with these terms and conditions, you do not have
  103. permission from the copyright holder(s) to use ARIS EDIT LITE, and you 
  104. must stop using it and remove it from your computer.

  110. (10)  Any use or distribution of ARIS EDIT LITE which violates this 
  111. license agreement will be considered a copyright violation, and 
  112. prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
  113.  
  114. Limited Warranty
  115.  
  116. ARIS warrants that the ARIS EDIT LITE diskette and manual distributed
  117. to registered users are fit for the purpose which they are intended.  
  118. ARIS will replace or refund the purchase price of the diskette and/or
  119. manual and/or any other parts or components of ARIS EDIT LITE found to
  120. be defective or not able to be used for the purpose which they are 
  121. intended. If such defect is the fault of ARIS and not the result of 
  122. misuse or abuse; and if the defective items are returned to ARIS within 
  123. the warranty period of one year.
  124.  
  125. ARIS makes no other warranties, expressed or implied, and 
  126. ARIS' warranty is expressly limited to the cost of replacement of
  127. any defective diskette or other part.
